Day 1 | Welcome to São Jorge
Today is all about your arrival and taking some time to relax at the Dragon Island.We're talking about São Jorge Island, famous for its stunning Fajãs.
The transfer will be waiting to take you to your accommodation.
Today, you'll meet your trip leader and get to know your travel companions.
After completing the check-in formalities, it's time to sit down and enjoy a delicious traditional dinner
Day 2 | São Jorge Island
Today, the day is reserved for exploring the Fajã de Santo Cristo Trail.. One of the most beautiful trails in the Azores, though a bit challenging.
We’ll have lunch at one of the few Snack Bars in the Fajã. After that, it's time to head to the Fajã do Belo and lastly Fajã dos Cubres where this trail ends.
On the way to our accommodation, we’ll pass by several viewpoints and Fajãs, ending at the magnificent Poça Simão Dias, , before we return to Velas.
Day 3 | S. Jorge
Today, the day is reserved for exploring the southeastern part of the island of São Jorge. So, at a time to be arranged and early in the morning, we will visit some of the most beautiful spots on the island, such as Urzelina, Calheta, have a coffee locally produced in Fajã dos Vimes and cross the amazing N2 till the Topo, passing through the gorgeous Cruzal Waterfall, , without skipping the many viewpoints along the way.
Day 4| Welcome to Pico Island
We’ll catch the first boat to head to the second largest island of the Azores archipelago – Pico Island.
Once we arrive, we'll head to our accommodation to drop off our luggage.
Today, a more relaxed day awaits you, to savor the best that is made on Pico. We're talking, of course, about its wine.. But first, you'll embark on a journey to the center of the Earth, descending into the fantastic Gruta das Torres. After lunch (not included), it’s time to taste local wines and products.
In the end, we return to the accommodation to finally complete the check-in.
Day 5 | Pico Island
Today, the day will start early for those who want to hike to the highest mountain in Portugal - Pico Mountain.
This activity is optional and it begins at dawn (2:00 AM) to ensure we catch the sunrise at the mountain's summit. The return is scheduled for around 11:00 AM.
The rest of the group, who choose not to hike the mountain, will have the option to relax, enjoy a late breakfast, and unwind, or they can choose to do the Criação Velha Trail,, until the return of the hikers.
The rest of the day is yours to enjoy as you please. You can visit one of the many natural pools or simply relax, as we’re right in the middle of this incredible adventure in the Azores Triangle. Note – The hike to Pico is led by an official guide and comes with an additional cost of 70 euros per person.
Day 6 | Pico Island
Today, we’ll explore some areas of the western part of Pico Island. Always accompanied by the towering Pico Mountain, today will be a more relaxed day.
You’ll visit places like the famous Lagoa do Capitão, São Roque do Pico, Lajido, Cachorro, Furnas de Santo António, and other stunning spots
Day 7 | Pico Island
Today, we start with one of the most famous activities in the Azores – Whale Whatching. So, at a time to be arranged, hop on the boat, grab your camera, and get up close to these calm giants that inhabit the Azorean seas. On the return, you’ll also have the chance to take a tour along the island's east coast, where you'll visit more natural pools.
Day 8 | Welcome to Faial Island
After a hearty breakfast, it's time to explore the neighboring island, which is also the final island of our journey – Faial Island..
A 45-minute boat ride will take you to the island where Portugal's last volcanic eruption occurred. However, Faial it's not just about the Capelinhos Volcano So, we will start the day with a small hike in Faial Caldeira, , where you’ll be mesmerized by the stunning volcanic landscapes.
After the hike, it's time to head to the Capelinhos Volcano. A remote, unique place of incredibly rare beauty. We'll also have the chance to visit the Capelinhos Interpretation Centre and climb to the top of the lighthouse, for some stunning views over the entire magnificent area.
After the visit to this "lunar" landscape, it's time to head to another highlight of the island: the Horta Marina.. Take a stroll around the marina and admire the quirky paintings left on the walls by sailors from all over the world. You can also take the opportunity to "check-in" and enjoy a gin at" Peter’s "or have a swim at Porto Pim Beach.
Day 9 | Faial Island
No activities are planned for today. At a time to be arranged, the transport will be at the accommodation to take you to the airport.
Note - – .With the inherent unpredictability of the Azores islands, it's likely that there will be changes to the itinerary. This means, for example, that although the hike to Pico is scheduled for day 5, it may need to be moved due to weather conditions, as well as the whale watching activity. Our Trip Leader will decide the best days and hikes to do based on the weather and conditions at the time.
